We are J.V. and Varsity spirit squads for Williamsburg Academy
Please read the following letter while you are waiting:
Congratulations to all of you who tried out this year. I hope you see this as a positive learning experience!
Regardless of whether of not you made the squad, you all worked very hard and I am proud of each of you.
It is very important to remember that a competition such as this is based on the way that a certain set of judges sees a certain set of candidates on a certain day. If any of the variables were changed, the outcome would be different.
The other important thing is this:
THE TRUE WORTH OF AN INDIVIDUAL AS A PERSON IS NOT MEASURED BY WINNING AN AWARD, A TROPHY, OR A SPOT ON A SPORTS TEAM.
If you tried out this year and did not make it, don’t give up! Use what you have learned to your advantage. Now you know what to expect at tryouts next year! You have 12 months to prepare for the next tryout.
If you are a senior and did not make it, focus on your future and on the journey that you will soon begin as you graduate from high school and move into one of the exciting times of your life! We are proud of you and wish you always the best.
We have enjoyed this time with you and we love you all!

Guidelines for the Senior Toy Pep Rally state the following:
1. This is the Senior ATHLETE Toy Pep Rally.
2. Seniors may participate if they are playing a fall sport their senior year (football, cheerleading, volleyball, tennis, cross-country)
OR
3. If the senior did not play a fall sport during their senior year but plans to play a winter or spring sport their senior year (basketball, baseball, softball, golf, track), then they must also have played that sport their JUNIOR YEAR and will also play it their senior year to be eligible to participate in this pep rally.
4. The pep rally is run by the Varsity Cheerleaders. They will carry each toy out onto the floor and give to the Senior.
J.V. Cheerleaders will assist if they have a sibling who is a senior in the pep rally or if they are needed to help. Parents, siblings, boyfriends, girlfriends etc. will not take part in this pep rally. They will be spectators.
5. Other students or children will be asked to participate in the pep rally ONLY IF there is a costume that needs to be worn or a vehicle that needs to be driven (bicycle, toy jeep, etc.)
6. The Seniors' toys must be actual TOYS, not humans who they played with when they were children.
7. The written part that you turn in to be read about your child's toy should be 3/4 to one page in length. We will not play any music with these, so please do not send music to go along with the poem.
8. We recommend that you keep the toy a secret from your child if possible so that when the cheerleaders bring it out, they can all guess who it belongs to.
For the pep rally, you will need to select a toy that meant or means something to your son or daughter.
Write a poem or a few paragraphs about the toy, 3/4 to ONE PAGE or LESS. If it is too long, we will have to shorten it for you.
Things that you could include are:
Where the toy came from, how your child felt about the toy, etc.
Place the TOY and the POEM into a trash bag and deliver to the school office NO LATER THAN date TBA.
PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOUR CHILD'S NAME IS SOMEWHERE ON THE PAPER so that we will know who each toy belongs to.
Please note: No toy (OR REAL) guns or knives are permitted.
